Employee development

Having employees participate in volunteer youth services activities such as mentoring is a great strategy for employee development.  Mentors need to be good listeners, provide encouragement, praise small successes, and be firm regarding adherence to core values.  These, skills and attributes, are also requirements for being an effective supervisor

Employee Relations

Allowing employees the opportunity to participate in email mentoring as a community service project shows respect for the employee in that he/she is authorized to represent the company and what the company stands for in the community.  It also provides opportunities to recognize employees for contributions to the community in addition to work related recognition.  Giving such responsibilities to employees and recognizing them for the achievements creates stronger employer/employee bonds.
