We are a mentoring and support a program for children of prisoners, ages 8 -18, that provides mentoring and specialized services. Our ultimate mission is to stop the cycle of incarceration and lead these children to a different pathway.

Our goals include:

• Cultivating children’s resiliency to become competent, healthy, happy, and successful adults
• Empowering children to build on their existing strengths
• Increasing children’s potential and broadening their horizons
• Helping children and mentors to experience confidence in their capabilities…and having fun while doing it!

MENTORS

Mentors receive initial/ongoing training and support from Be A Mentor Staff, The true reward for mentors is seeing their positive influence on the lives of these deserving children just by being their friends.

New Horizons children experience:

• Increased self esteem
• Increased self confidence
• Increased motivation

Our mentors achieve these goals through:

• One-to-one activities
• Recreational activities
• Social events

This experience is powerful and will fulfill your desire to make a difference through mentoring our youth

For the safety of our children, all volunteer mentors must complete an on-line application and undergo a background investigation.
