Be A Mentor Program’s mission is to provide schools and communities with trained volunteer mentors to be positive adult role models for youth.

  • Adult mentoring integrated into the classroom enhances student learning.

  • Be A Mentor Program provides schools and communities with trained mentors. Project Managers choose the youth, make the match, and monitor the match.

  • Be A Mentor Program trains school and community personnel to be mentor project managers and provides them with technical support.

  • Be A Mentor Program support includes:

    - A manual on mentoring;
    - An Internet website with important and useful documents and forms;
    - Referral of mentors and their files, including an application, background clearance, and personal references via the Internet;
    - On-site, phone, and email technical support services to the project managers.
  • Students with mentors tend to:

    - Attend school more often;
    - Get better grades;
    - Attend college more often;
    - Obtain a career focus.
