Requirements To Join The Be A Mentor Program Network

Face-to-Face Mentoring Projects

Email Mentoring Projects

  • Project has a screening process for investigating background of prospective mentors
  • A designated project manager is assigned who interviews mentors, matches them with youth, and monitors the matches
  • Project has a training program for prospective mentors
  • Project has an orientation for new mentees
  • Project has a schedule for mentor and mentee support meetings
  • Teacher or project manager works with a group of youth for an academic outcome
  • Email Mentors’ role designed to assist a youth with a specific project assigned by teacher or project manager
  • Teacher or project manager posts a project, in the Be A Mentor form, to the Be A Mentor website (click here for sample projects)
  • Teacher or project manager assists youth in setting up their email accounts
  • Teacher or project manager is the email contact for both mentor and youth
